Terry Venables backs Everyman

Terry Venables votes Everyman
El Tel votes Everyman!

El Tel is backing Everyman to be The Football League's charity partner, he said, "I was quite surprised when I heard that 38,000 men are affected by a male specific cancer each year in the UK.  That's almost enough men to fill Elland Road, but these sorts of issues just don't get discussed.  Men are much more comfortable talking about football than they are about their health but if we're to change these figures, we need to be more open.  That's why I'm encouraging everyone to vote for Everyman to become the Football League's charity partner next season".

So please click here and VOTE EVERYMAN!

Wilmington Grammer School raise over £800!

Wilmington Grammer School fundraise for Keep Your Eye On The Ball

Every September the students in each of the five Houses at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys decide which charity they would like to support in the year ahead. Last year (September 2009 – July 2010) the boys in Stevenson House decided to support Keep Your Eye On The Ball and raised a total of £840.41. This was made possible by their generous weekly donations and other fundraising activities such as sponsored silences. A large proportion of the total was raised by 7 Stevenson, Miss Evans’ tutor group. Now in year 8, here they are proudly wearing their KYEOTB t-shirts.

Well done, boys – thanks for your support!

Matt Duke supports Everyman Charity Night

Matt Duke signs a raffle prize for a young fan

Keen Hill City supporter Darren Spence organised a fundraising event in aid of Everyman recently and none other than Matt Duke himself turned up to lend a helping hand.

The evening proved a big success with more than £400 being raised and Darren was delighted with the outcome. He said "It's taken a few weeks to bring everything together, but being a City fan and with everything Matt Duke went through, Everyman was the obvious beneficiary."

We'd like to say a big Thank You to Darren for organising a fantastic event and raising such a great amount which will go towards stamping out male cancer.

Win £5,000 of Argos goodies for you AND us!

Our best wishes to Sir John Hall

Everyone at Everyman and the Keep Your Eye On The Ball campaign sends Sir John Hall our very best wishes.

The former Newcastle owner has prostate cancer which is in an aggressive state, it has been confirmed. The 77 year old was best remembered for overseeing Kevin Keegan's reign as manager and said of his cancer "I just went for a routine test and found out I had aggressive prostate cancer. Since then I've just been trying to come to terms with it. I will need to go in for treatment, I'll be having radiotherapy. I've been in for x-rays on the cancer ward and had it confirmed. It's another battleI'm going to fight. They can't cure it, all they can do is try and slow it down.

Sir John's story is an example of how important it is to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer. An early diagnosis means that the right kind of treatment can be given.
