For Immediate Release:
Local Teacher’s £1000 Goal for Male Charity
Local teacher Gideon Stokes, 45, from Batchley in Redditch, is holding a sponsored, penalty shoot out competition in his goal to help beat male cancer. On the INSERT DATE at INSERT LOCATION, Gideon will host the event in aid of the Keep Your Eye on the Ball campaign, which raises funds for, and awareness of, testicular cancer within the football community.
Gideon has signed up a selection of teachers and pupils from Batchley high School to take part in the penalty shoot out competition and hopes to raise £1000 in the process.
“The support for the event has been fantastic and you can feel a real excitement brewing. It’s been a great opportunity to get pupils and teachers involved in a fun way, to raise money, for such a good cause.”
Gideon has urged anyone in the local area to come down to support the event and help raise as much money as possible.
“Our aim is to raise £1000 but with as much support as possible we could easily beat our target. We will be taking donations on the day as well so we urge anyone in the local are to come down and cheer on the penalty takers and help make it a memorable day.”
Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men aged between 15 and 44, with about 2,000 cases a year in the UK. Incidence is increasing dramatically – by almost four-fold in the past 50 years, but thanks to advances made at Everyman, testicular cancer is 99% curable if caught early, and with treatment the overall cure rate is 95%.
If you cannot attend you can still make a donation at the events website at: www.justgiving.com/penaltyshootout
