Phew the rain stayed away!
100 men joined professional footballer Matt Duke in Rother Valley Country Park, to not only get active but also raise awareness and funds in the fight against male cancer.
The staff and runners were all geared up for a very wet race but, fortunately, the rain stayed away and we were all set for the second KYEOTB 5K and 10K Run in Sheffield.
The 5K run set off at a very quick pace and the winner, Michael Fitzgerald who came all the way from America to participate, smashed the current course record finishing in an impressive 17 minutes and 51 seconds. There was a short wait for Matt Nichols to finish in 19 minutes and 49 seconds and third place went to Mark in 20:27.
For the 10K run we were honoured by the appearance of Iron Man and Spiderman and after seeing the 5K runners head out they were itching to get started. It appeared that this was the day for breaking records as the 10K course record was also beaten. This time by Jason Chow who finished in 37:38 – congratulations Jason. Second to finish was Dean Drabble in 39:01 who just managed to achieve his target of finishing in under 40 minutes. Dean was closely followed by Pete Walton who finished in 39:28.
Well done to all the runners who have helped raise money towards research into testicular and prostate cancer.
Thank you to everyone who took part and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2012!
